NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2008
Just for once your chairman will be brief.
It’s one of the policy changes insisted on once the much expanded committee had settled in!
My purpose now is to ask that you forget any stories or rumours you’ve heard about the demise of
this joyful annual celebration. We are not ‘penniless’ but just stopped the train, took stock and decided to
create a sister vehicle to improve our Balance Sheet for the long term well being of the Salcombe Festival
which returns next year. So welcome to The Salcombe Festival Fringe 2008 and our campaign to
raise funds during the year and take advance bookings for advertising and other prospects for 2009.
I hope you approve of these new measures and strategy.
The purpose of the Fringe therefore remains an integral part of our search for ‘The Perfect Weekend’,
about which the town and supporters wish to see a return of the Brass Band on Whitestrand (Sunday)
and some majestic boats invited back to grace the harbour again, and with better resources and more
hands to the wheel, we can do it!
You should know that more work than ever is going into this revised business approach.
I hope you’ll feel able to lend your enthusiasm and support, beginning perhaps with
sponsoring the website itself?
As for the programme of events this year, we’d like to offer opportunity to display your
corporate banner at the day projects in Island Street and at the swimming pool.
Alternatively you might care to sponsor an event within these ‘parties’ -
how about being associated with the dinghy on the pool itself? Anything and almost
everything is possible, which leads me to honour my opening promise and sign off!
Please do not hesitate to contact me if there are matters you wish to discuss.
Best wishes for Spring and Summer.
David Cohen (Chairman)
